We need people to work with us not only on our fundraising events, but also, when we’re building school and home structures in East Africa. As people who have had voluntary background whether it was working with children’s church at Watoto or collecting food and other materials to send to Afghanistan and Pakistan after the floods in 2013 or watching a mother who had dedicated her entire adulthood to supporting vulnerable women and children, we have seen the power that resides in people coming together to support a positive cause. We have seen schools, hospitals and homes being built by a group of ordinary people. As such, at NINA we believe that when ordinary people work together, they do extraordinary things. LET’S GO!!

Three great reasons why we think you should get involved.

(1) Get involved in helping communities eliminate the intergenerational poverty. If you have spare time and a willingness to help, you can make a difference by helping to educate children and young people among poor communities in East Africa, who’d go ahead and transform their communities.

(2) Immerse yourself in a multicultural and multigenerational Niko Nawe family. Whether you’re in the dorm room or the board room, leadership begins with service. During your time as a volunteer, you will meet volunteers from all over the world with different cultures, ages and backgrounds.

(3) Learn new skills. As a volunteer, you will work alongside your teammates, learning valuable skills, including construction and teaching. By the end of your time on program, you’ll be able to return home having learned something new.

Given the nature of our calling, we need people with whom we share a passion for helping the marginalised – people who are willing to learn from the tasks, event organisers who will help us fundraise, engineers who will help us build schools and homes for less privileged children, teachers/coaches.

All our volunteers will be adults aged between 18 and 60.

The time you spend with us is dependent on the project we will have admitted you for. However, you could extend your time at NINA and get involved in other projects that we would be working on.

We are happy that you are willing to volunteer with us. How long you stay with us depends on the project we would be working on together. However, you can always let us know if you need a break from the project/event

When you apply and your application is successful, a person from our team will reach out to you via email or telephone to inform you about when the respective project commences.

NINA is building a global family. As such, our volunteers can come from anywhere across the planet. However, for short events such as one-day fundraising events, we would only be accepting local applications.

All our volunteers will be fully briefed about the projects and where training is required, NINA will ensure that all our volunteers attain the training they need to carry out their tasks successfully.

NINA will always prioritise the wellbeing of all our volunteers – ensuring that they are fed and provided a decent place to stay while they are working with us.
