About Us

About Us

Niko Nawe supports less privileged children and helps them get a decent education, a decent home so they can become responsible citizens of their communities. Our aim is not only to meet their physical needs, but also, to provide them with everything they need to live a healthy and meaningful life.

The support we get from our donors, helps us provide food, clothing, education, homes and school facilities. Each child can have multiple sponsors so to give them the holistic support that they need to thrive.

Check out the activities that we are engaged in at the moment and the children and projects that still need your intervention. Sign up today and make a lasting impact in children’s lives.

Happy Joseph

PRESIDENT

I grew up in a staunch Christian family. As such, we were raised with such values as reaching out to those in need and showing love to those who are marginalised. With this background, I went on to volunteer with Watoto Children’s church and later with Devine Care Ministries. From my time at Watoto and Devine Care Ministries, I developed a passion to get involved in charitable activities beyond church and my own country. As such, together with Muyomba and Arusa, we decided to set up Niko Nawe (NINA) to reach out to less privileged children in East Africa. I am currently serving as President of Niko Nawe (NINA) for the next five years.

Arusa Malik

VICE PRESIDENT

Growing up, my family were always involved in supporting charities. I remember the flood in Afghanistan-Pakistan (2013). My family joined a couple of charities to help raise funds and pack food parcels. Our back garden became the production site, friends and neighbours joined in. People in the community would drop off bits for the parcels all day & we’d be packing til sunset. These were some of the most enjoyable moments we spent together as a family & as a neighbourhood. We all came together, regardless of our faith or skin colour, we had one goal: to help.

Ever since I met Happy, in 2019, he’s been telling me about this vision that we call Niko Nawe (NINA) today. His passion for the cause inspired me to support in any little way I can.

Muyomba Mohammed

TREASURER

I have always had a passion to help others especially children having been raised by a mother who has hugely dedicated her life to charity having worked with organisations such as Action Aid Uganda. I’m a big advocate of education and I believe it can work as a tool to provide children with functional skills which will help transform communities. It’s this passion and shared interest in charity with Happy and Arusa that gave birth to Niko Nawe (NINA). I’m currently serving as the vice president for the next five years.
